Longstreth is excited to announce the following athletes as the 2013 Longstreth/ NFHCA Division I Regional Players of the Year:
Mid‐Atlantic Region Player of Year: Jill Witmer, University of Maryland
Witmer, the 2013 ACC Offensive Player of the Year, has amassed a team‐high 19 goals and 8 assists during the 2013 season. An All‐ACC selection and the 2013 ACC Tournament MVP, she will lead the 22‐1 Terrapins as they face Duke in the first National Semifinal.
Mideast Region Player of the Year: Marie Elena Bolles, University of Connecticut
Bolles has notched 16 goals and 13 assists for 45 points during the 2013 season. She will lead the 19‐4 Huskies as they compete in this weekend’s second NCAA Semifinal versus North Carolina . The 2013 BIG EAST First Team and All‐Tournament Team selection helped UConn capture the 2013 BIG EAST Tournament Championship.
Northeast Region Player of the Year: Emma Plasteras, Boston College
Plasteras led the Eagles with 11 goals and 12 assists for 34 points during the 2013 season. Four of those 11 goals were game‐winners. She was honored as a First Team All‐ACC selection for her efforts.
South Region Player of the Year: Emily Wold, University of North Carolina
The All‐Atlantic Coast Conference First Team selection currently leads the nation in assists with 23 (1.0 per game). Wold has also tallied 6 goals on the season, including 2 game‐winners. The 2013 All‐ACC Tournament Team selection will lead the Tar Heels as they square off against Connecticut in the NCAA Semifinals.
West Region Player of the Year: Rachael Mack, University of Michigan
Named the 2013 Big Ten Player of the Year and a unanimous selection as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, Mack posted 21 goals and six assists for 48 points to lead the Big Ten. She netted seven game‐winning goals during the 2013 season, including a pair of overtime game‐winners against Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Penn State.
The 2013 Longstreth / NFHCA Division I National Player of the Year will be announced by the
NFHCA Office on December 3rd.
