What’s NEW?? Field hockey is an evolving sport so it’s REALLY important that you keep up to date with any changes or adjustments made to the rules.

The following are rule changes effective immediately:

  1. In NFHS games on a free hit, center pass, long hit or corner, the ball may be played immediately into the air as a first action; two actions are no longer needed; the ball need not move 1 meter before a teammate can play the ball
  2. The NFHS requires a 2-minute suspension for green cards
  3. The NFHS requires a player violating the rules governing the start of a penalty corner to go to the center-line until the penalty corner is successfully started. If a goalkeeper breaches the rule, a different defender goes to the center-line
  4. The NFHS requires that visible clocks count down to zero, timer no longer verbally counts down final 10 seconds
